The Bryan ADRC Bioinformatics Team provides two essential functions for the Center: 1) data management and 2) statistical support including programming, analysis, and design.
Data collection precedes data management. Data collection is through a Team created direct electronic data capture application at the point of subject contact using tablet PCs. Data management is by means of SQL resulting in an enterprise-wide application. A critical part of management is assurance of both data quality and data security.
While providing statistical support, working with other teams, the Bioinformatics Team focuses on methods examining trajectories of change in the biological and clinical expression of AD as well as approaches examining transitions across definable stages of disease from asymptomatic through mild impairment to dementia.
In addition, the Team supports collaborative research partnerships and faculty in the fields of genetics, geriatric psychiatry, medical psychology, and psychiatric epidemiology.
